This week we are learning about the Underground Railroad. This topic is not only important but some can consider it a tough topic! Be prepared it will be a little rough at times but we will get through it!

Here is a google form! Fill it out before you start the rest of the assignments!
Read Aloud: For our read aloud, we are going to read Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt.
In Class we read the story The Drinking Gourd and talked about the song that went along with it. Click on the image above to refresh yourself about the story and listen to the song.
Head over to History and read the passage! Once you are done reading join our Padlet and write down any interesting facts or something that shocked you!

The next thing we will do is complete this Jamboard. You will create a timeline of the event that occurred with the Underground Railroad. You can draw it, type it or both but I need to see dates, names and what significantly happened in that year.
We now will take out our 6×6 piece of paper and write our letters to someone we learned about. This can be a slave who escaped, this can be someone who helped those slaves. If you could talk to them now what would you say? Write it down on our paper so we can create our classroom quilt. Here is the link!
